We were thrilled take part in the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Think Dayton Building — the first building in the onMain Innovation District, a mixed-use hub for research and technology, workforce development, and community engagement.
The Skanska 17³Ô¹ÏÍø joint venture is serving as the construction manager for the Think Dayton Building, a five-story, 120,000-square-foot facility that will anchor the first phase of construction in onMain.
Designed as a nod to Dayton’s aviation history and expertise, the sleek Think Dayton Building will serve as a collaboration center for private industry, academia, and government. It will include a space that focuses on digital transformation initiatives, where the U.S. Air Force, industry, and educators can work together. It also will provide workforce development and hands-on learning for students.
With an anticipated opening in 2027, the building will be home to private industry, tech firms, R&D teams, and more. The facility will include learning and event suites, shared workspaces, office suites, and research labs. The building site also will include Think Dayton Plaza, an 18,000-square-foot open area that will serve as a formal gathering space for the community.
The onMain district is collaboration between the University of Dayton and Premier Health. It aims to attract new investment in research and technology to the region and will be home to a mix of commercial and residential spaces, along with green space.
Located on the former Montgomery County Fairgrounds site, the 38-acre onMain district is near the campus of the University of Dayton and Premier Health’s Miami Valley Hospital, just south of downtown Dayton.
The project would not have been possible without the support of state and local officials, JobsOhio, the Dayton Development Coalition, the University of Dayton, and Premier Health.
